Operation June!

In Jewellery on Thursday, September 18th 2008 by Romilly Tagged: , , , , ,

I know that the application has only landed on the door mat of the chairperson but I am already getting organised.  I have painted my studio (again), much to annoyance of my other half as he liked the blue but it is now a calming green, de-cluttered and I feel so much happier and clearer!  I just need to tittivate and then it will be done.

Next job is my garden, I have a blank canvas as the previous owner had children and little plants/shrubs so I am going to start overhauling the garden this week to get things planted and hopefully springing up ready for June, my garden journal is now on the dining room table ready to be put in to action.

All this work and I might not even be accepted, but I am excited which my other half can’t quite understand, men! But at least my garden will look lovely next year!!

My application is in!

In Jewellery on Wednesday, September 17th 2008 by Romilly Tagged: , , , ,

This year I have decided to join the Suffolk Open Studios, I’ve been putting it off for the last couple of years thinking I didn’t handcraft to the standard they require but I have thought “Oh sod it!”  I have posted the application form off today for full membership and fingers crossed I will be accepted in January for 2009.

Why is it so important to me?

Well my mum was a member for a few years and it is a well respected society to be joined to and now my mum no longer participates I have decided to take her place.  I have to open my studio for at least one weekend in June and take part in at least one exhibition.  The attendees are people who have a love for handcrafted pieces not just jewellery but art work, stained glass, pottery and woodwork.

So fingers crossed and I’ll let you know as soon as I do!
